A Savannah longshoreman Thursday was awarded more than $5.6 million in damages against the Georgia Ports Authority for injuries suffered in a two-vehicle collision at the port in 2005.
But Kirk Deweese, 58, left Chatham County State Court in the custody of sheriff’s deputies after he tried to enter the courthouse that morning with a loaded firearm.
A jury awarded Deweese $5,662,759.95 in damages after finding the ports authority 100 percent negligent for the April 15, 2005, wreck.  ... more ...
